No school drama department would be complete without some Shakespeare. This year, the Senior House Drama Club took to the stage with a production of The Tempest.
With a colourful backdrop evoking the isolation of the island and actors dressed up as circus players, there seemed to be a real sense of magic in the air. It was a production that demanded a huge amount of concentration and commitment from the cast - and the boys did wonderfully. They were confident and professional in their delivery of Shakespeare’s lines.
Another hugely popular production was Jason and the Argonauts – the classic Greek mythological tale. It was no mean feat for the students, who were tasked with writing the script, directing and acting.
Taking some tips from method acting, the students begun by exploring the characters and then casting the actors into each role. Each teaching group was then given an act in the play to work on, coming together in a final session to teach each other their parts.
The actors were aided in creating an atmospheric production for the audience with a spooky background mural created in art class.
